The Role We are currently seeking a skilled Mechanical & Electrical Engineer to join a well-established industrial environment in Preston area. This is a hands-on role requiring both electrical and mechanical expertise, supporting production equipment, fault finding, and continuous improvement activities. The successful candidate will be self-sufficient, proactive, and solution-focused, with a strong background in industrial engineering. Key Responsibilities * Electrical and mechanical fault finding on industrial machinery * Planned and reactive maintenance * Installation, repair, and replacement of electrical components * Supporting continuous improvement and suggesting process enhancements * Working collaboratively within an engineering and production team * Ensuring compliance with health & safety standards Electrical Experience Required * Sensor fault finding and replacement * Motor swaps and installations * PLC experience (fault finding / basic diagnostics) * Inverter / VFD drives * Three-phase installation and fault investigation * Electrical testing and diagnostics Mechanical Experience Required * Bearing replacement * Pneumatics and air systems * General fabrication and mechanical fitting * Mechanical fault diagnosis and repairs Qualifications & Experience * Minimum 2 years’ industrial engineering experience * Minimum BTEC Level 3 / NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering * 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations * Strong understanding of industrial maintenance environments Person Specification * Self-sufficient and able to work independently * Team-focused with strong communication skills * Solution-oriented mindset * Proactive and willing to step forward with improvement suggestions * Keen to develop skills and progress professionally * Reliable, organised, and safety-conscious What’s On Offer * Stable role within a strong industrial business * Opportunities for development and upskilling * Supportive engineering team environment * Competitive pay and long-term prospects
