Job Description:
Join GM's Motorsports Software team, which develops next-generation IT solutions for motorsports, enabling innovative interactions between GM's global engineering and race teams. The team includes analysts, architects, developers, data engineers, testers, and project managers working to ensure podium finishes in NASCAR, IndyCar, and IMSA sportscar racing.
The Role:
The Staff Software Engineer will provide technical leadership and hands-on software development, focusing on scalable cloud systems, solution architecture, and motorsports software. This role involves building systems that give our race teams a competitive edge and applying learnings to vehicle development, with a focus on aerodynamics systems design.
Responsibilities:
1. Lead a team to develop and maintain GM Motorsports aero-thermal applications, including CFD modeling, visualization, and analysis.
2. Design solution architectures and lead team consensus on 'how'.
3. Focus on modern application design, code quality, and modular frameworks.
4. Identify value gaps within the aerodynamics team and develop solutions.
5. Resolve technical blockers and ensure smooth project delivery.
6. Manage scrum story delivery, including architecture, interfaces, build, testing, and deployment.
7. Collaborate with team members and ensure reliable, self-managed delivery.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field.
* Expertise in CFD systems, microservices, data streaming platforms.
* Experience in full-stack application development and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
* 5+ years in microservices development, 2+ years in web services design.
* Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, and agile methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Master's degree in a technical discipline.
* Knowledge of aerodynamics, AI & ML, VR frameworks, data streaming tech, and cross-platform development.
* Leadership and system architecture experience.
* Interest in motorsports and high-paced environments.
