A growing, Edinburgh based tech-for-good start-up is looking for an Android Software Engineer (Kotlin) to join their hybrid team. This is a unique opportunity to work on an impactful product that will genuinely improve the quality of life for so many people.
They’ve been operating for a few years now and have developed a revolutionary device for the healthcare industry that’s aimed at improving mobility. They’ve very recently went live with their first few customers and have really exciting road map for the year ahead.
You’ll be joining the software side of the business and will be responsible for their mobile platform, a business-critical function for their device. You’ll be working alongside an experienced Android Engineer, who has shaped their current platform, so will be a great person to learn from. However, due to project needs, they’re looking for someone confident enough to work independently when required.
In this role, you’ll be focused on enhancing functionality, developing new features, and supporting the backend of their web application. This is a highly varied role where you’ll be expected to pitch in when required across projects. You’ll also collaborate closely with other teams, including Firmware, to manage Bluetooth communication – a great opportunity to expand your skillset.
You’ll ideally have;
** Commercial Android experience with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
** Some experience working across back-end systems or API development
** Familiarity with Cloud Services (ideally AWS, but GCP or Azure is fine too!)
** Any experience or understanding with Bluetooth would be highly beneficial
** Prior experience working in a start-up or scale-up environment would be beneficial too
This role would suit an ambitious Android Software Engineer that is looking to build on their current skillset, learn from experienced peers, and have a real opportunity for project ownership within a fast-moving organisation.
Their offices are based on the West side of Edinburgh, with parking available onsite and good public transport links. They do support hybrid working here and you'll be expected onsite about once a week to meet with your colleagues – they’re genuinely a really friendly and social bunch; many are into their outdoor activities so meeting your colleagues for a Munro Walk at the weekend isn’t out of the norm here (though not required!).
In return, they offer a salary of £40k to £50k + benefits. There’s also strong potential for career progression here, as the company have pretty ambitious growth plans for the years ahead.
