Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Associate Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team at Mid and South Essex Foundation Trust. The role involves providing evidence‑based clinical advice and support to staff and patients across the Trust, delivering high quality, patient‑focused care.
Responsibilities
* Manage referrals from inpatient and outpatient sources, ensuring timely triage to appropriate health care professionals within the pain service.
* Conduct pain assessments and formulate, implement, and evaluate management plans for ward‑based and outpatient settings.
* Develop knowledge of therapeutic interventions used in acute and chronic pain management.
* Make evidence‑based decisions about patient care and ensure appropriate, timely management.
* Provide education to patients and relatives about their condition, treatment options, and self‑help strategies.
* Engage in clinical supervision, self‑reflection and continuous improvement of care and practice.
* Provide specialist clinical advice to staff, patients and carers, liaising with multidisciplinary teams.
* Manage a caseload of allocated patients and take responsibility for their overall management.
* Improve and maintain standards of care within the specialty.
Essential Qualifications
* Registered Nurse
* Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Up‑to‑date clinical knowledge in acute/chronic pain management
* Experience of formal or informal teaching
* Knowledge and understanding of the research process and audit cycle
Desirable Qualifications
* Post‑registration qualification in pain management
* Experience within a pain service

* Salary: £39,959 per annum (pro rata for part time)
