The Mayfair Hotel is Christchurch’s contemporary, luxury boutique hotel, known for elegant design, warm hospitality, and exceptional guest experiences. Our signature food & beverage spaces, Majestic at Mayfair Café by day and an elevated restaurant & bar by night, offer our guests a refined yet welcoming environment from morning coffee through to evening dining.
We are seeking a hands-on, hard‑working Food & Beverage Manager to lead our dynamic front‑of‑house team across both outlets and ensure an exceptional experience for every guest, every time.
Responsibilities
* Running a busy, high-end café service in the morning and leading the seamless transition into a premium restaurant and bar in the evening
* Working closely with the Hotel Manager and Kitchen team to ensure consistent quality, smooth service delivery, and a cohesive guest experience
* Significantly contributing to menu and beverage development, including menu pricing, wine list curation, cocktail offerings and seasonal updates
* Managing stock control, ordering, cost management, and ensuring alignment with budget expectations
* Overseeing functions and private events, ensuring these are delivered to a luxury standard
* Coaching your team to achieve high performance, exceptional customer service, and strong sales results
* Ensuring all Health & Safety, licensing, and compliance requirements are met to the highest standard.

* Strong background in premium food & beverage environments, ideally within hotels or luxury venues
* Knowledge of bar operations, wine service, and delivering elevated guest experiences
* Experience in menu development, pricing, and stock systems
* A hands-on leadership style - visible, supportive, and proactive
* Strong financial literacy: budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
* Excellent communication skills and a natural ability to build rapport
* Ability to thrive under pressure and maintain composure during peak service
* A passion for training, developing, and inspiring your team
* High personal standards of presentation, integrity, and professionalism.
Benefits / Why join
* Work in one of Christchurch’s premium boutique hotels with a strong reputation for service excellence.
* Be part of a supportive leadership team who value innovation, quality, and team culture.
* Lead a venue with significant growth potential across café, restaurant, bar, and event offerings.
* Enjoy opportunities for career growth within an expanding, forward-thinking hotel environment.
This is a full-time role, offering a competitive salary between $80 000 to $85 000 per annum, depending on experience.
