About Northern Housing Consortium

The Northern Housing Consortium (NHC) is the leading not-for-profit membership body for councils and social housing providers across the North of England, with 50 years of expertise and influence.

Housing Partnerships are a group of housing providers and stock‑holding local authorities coming together to speak in one clear voice. As a collective, they are the single voice to the local Mayor and Combined Authority, championing regional priorities at the heart of delivering new homes and creating better places. This includes driving the government’s agenda on devolution, economic growth, and increasing the supply of affordable housing, while ensuring strong support for local communities.

Who are we looking for?

We have two exciting opportunities for you to join the team as Senior Engagement Officers (Housing Partnerships), on a fixed‑term contract.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is skilled in building strong relationships, managing multiple projects and delivering exceptional experiences for the housing sector and wider stakeholders. The role is perfect for someone who’s organised, motivated, and eager to use their skills to make a positive difference for our members.

We value experience in a membership or stakeholder management role, and knowledge of housing, devolution, and regeneration. Support will be provided to get you up to speed.

In this role, you will deliver an exceptional experience for housing partnership(s) across the North, providing support on initiatives, campaigns, events, and engagement activities across the network. Reporting to our Housing Partnership Manager, you’ll take a lead on delivering support to housing partnerships across the North of England, which will include coordinating and managing meetings, working closely with housing leaders, industry partners, and colleagues, and managing multiple workstreams across the Housing Partnerships.

You’ll also have the opportunity to work closely across the Policy & External Relations directorate to support the NHC’s influencing work, making sure it is both informed by, and communicated to, the Housing Partnerships in a way that compliments their priorities and reflects member views.

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and are committed to building a workforce that reflects the communities we serve.

What can we offer?

The NHC is a small team, but we make a difference. We aim to offer a rewarding, supportive place to work where we invest in people so they can be themselves and fulfil their potential, celebrating achievements along the way.

Our team largely works remotely and keeps in touch through virtual channels and frequent meet‑ups in our Sunderland office, where you are also welcome to desk work if you wish. We also meet regularly in person to collaborate as a team at various locations across the North, including Newcastle and York. You will be required to travel to attend meetings and events for face‑to‑face work with colleagues and our members, in places across the North.

At Northern Housing Consortium, we pride ourselves on creating a happy working culture. This includes offering personal and workplace benefits to help you achieve a positive work‑life balance, taking care of yourself, as well as supporting you to manage lifes logistics.

Benefits

* Flexible working arrangements
* The ability to work from a location which suits you
* Workplace pension scheme offering above statutory contributions
* 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
* Access to Benenden Healthcare and Employee Assistance Programme
* Bespoke training & development opportunities, including payment towards qualifications
* Wellbeing focus including a hub with access to lifestyle discounts

To apply for these roles, please send your CV and cover letter which demonstrates how you meet the requirements to enquiries@northern-consortium.org.uk by Friday 30th January at 5pm.

Interviews will take place on Monday 9th February at our office in Sunderland – Hope Street Xchange, 1-3 Hind Street, Sunderland, SR1 3QD. If there is any support you need from our team to get the most out of your application, and the ongoing recruitment process, please get in touch.
