Join us as a Senior Student Welfare Officer for Summer 2026, a role that combines team leadership, hands-on student support, and the chance to make a real difference to our students’ experience.
What does it involve?
At Stafford House Study Holidays, we welcome over 6,000 students (ages 8-17) from overseas during the summer to help them improve their English. Students stay for up to 2 weeks at one of our fantastic summer centres, taking part in a rich academic, activities and excursions programme.
At each location, our dedicated Student Welfare Team support the pastoral and well-being needs of students, ensuring each student feels safe, comfortable, and supported throughout their time with us.
Our Senior Student Welfare Officers play a key role in providing support to students, group leaders, and the wider Student Welfare Officer team.
Locations: Bournemouth, Canterbury, Cambridge, Central London, Uxbridge, Northampton, and Oakham, York *New for 2026!
You will provide wrap-around care for our students, and it is necessary be residential for the duration of the contract. The news as you don’t need to be local to our school locations to apply!
Contracts: Select a contract of 4-6 weeks, from 16th June to mid/end August 2026. You must be available throughout July, as this is our busiest period. You must be available for a training day on 24th June 2026.
Hours: This senior position requires 52 hours per week over 6 days. This is a residential position therefore we provide full-board accommodation

Pay: £660.92 per week + holiday entitlement

What does it take to be a Senior Student Welfare Officer?
* Experience. For this senior position, you must have residential experience and preferably experience of working within a summer school environment.
* Confidence with a good understanding of how to work professionally with young people. You'll help our students feel safe from the moment they arrive working closely with your Welfare and Accommodation Manager and Centre Director.
* Safeguarding. Keeping students safe is our top priority. Full pre-employment checks, including an Enhanced DBS, will be completed in line with our safer recruitment policy and Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025.
* Team Leadership. You’ll act as a team lead for Student Welfare Officers, providing support for their on-the-job development. You may deputise for the Welfare and Accommodation Manager if needed.
* Administration. You will allocate the accommodation for and make plans to ensure that our overseas students’ needs are met, prior to arrival. You’ll also complete admin duties, such as logbooks and Health & Safety records.
* Great Organisation. While here, you’ll manage the essential aspects of our students’ stay; ensuring they get to lessons on time, supervising mealtimes and working with their Group Leaders to support the smooth running of their stay.
* Being Supportive. You’ll cover the duties of care for our students overnight, on a rota basis. Additionally, providing pastoral support to ensure their holistic well-being and welfare.
* Be a great Communicator with a good level of spoken and written English.
* You must have the right to work in the UK on a full-time basis throughout your contract
