Head of Finance Reporting & Control

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Head of Finance Reporting & Control to join our Finance & Performance leadership team within a forward-thinking Housing Association. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, this is a key senior leadership role responsible for driving financial planning, treasury management, financial control, and strategic insight across the organisation.
This role offers the opportunity to influence long-term financial strategy, support organisational growth, and lead continuous improvement across finance operations within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.
Working remotely, you’ll partner with senior stakeholders across the business to ensure strong financial governance, robust planning, and data-driven decision-making.
* Lead the organisation’s financial planning function, delivering accurate and timely business plans, forecasts, and financial models to support strategic decision-making.
* Oversee treasury management activities, including debt management, cashflow forecasting, covenant compliance, and funding requirements.
* Support the Director of Finance in securing and managing appropriate funding arrangements aligned to organisational objectives.
* Lead tax planning and compliance activities, ensuring adherence to all relevant regulatory and statutory requirements while optimising financial efficiency.
* Ensure all financial and regulatory returns are completed accurately and submitted within required deadlines.
* Provide strategic financial support to operational and development activities across the organisation.
* Oversee financial controls, transactional finance processes, and purchase ledger operations to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
* Drive continuous improvement across financial systems, reporting processes, controls, and governance frameworks.
* Partner with stakeholders across the business to provide meaningful financial insight and support informed decision-making.
* Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing finance team, promoting collaboration, accountability, and continuous development.
* Deputise for the Director of Finance and contribute to wider senior leadership initiatives where required.
We’re looking for a strategic and technically strong finance professional who combines leadership capability with strong commercial awareness and a collaborative approach.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, CPFA or equivalent)
* Previous experience within Housing Associations, social housing, property, or a regulated environment would be highly advantageous
* Significant experience in financial planning, treasury management, and financial control
* Strong understanding of financial accounting principles, tax, compliance, and regulatory reporting
* Proven experience improving financial systems, controls, and operational processes
* Experience leading and developing high-performing finance teams
* Excellent analytical, commercial, and problem-solving skills
* Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to senior stakeholders
* Ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced and evolving environment
