Job overview

Are you a passionate and experienced clinician with a specialist interest in lower limb care? We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Band 7 Lower Limb Specialist to join our multidisciplinary team within Swansea Bay University Health Board. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop services for patients with complex lower limb conditions, including those at high risk due to diabetes, vascular disease, or musculoskeletal disorders.

You will work autonomously and collaboratively across community, delivering expert clinical care, supporting service development, and contributing to education and research.

Main duties of the job

Provide advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for patients with complex lower limb conditions.

Deliver specialist interventions including wound care.

Act as a clinical lead and expert resource for colleagues across community nursing.

Support the development and implementation of care pathways and protocols.

Lead and participate in clinical audit, service evaluation, and quality improvement initiatives.

Provide supervision, mentorship, and training to junior staff and students.

Contribute to patient and staff education around lower limb health and prevention strategies.

Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential criteria

1. Registered Nurse and current NMC Registration
2. Master’s Degree or equivalent experience Specialist qualifications Expert level of knowledge in clinical speciality
3. Knowledge of service improvement
4. Able to undertake a literature search and critically appraise research papers
5. Awareness of current developments within the NHS

Desirable criteria

6. Teaching qualification (or equivalent experience)
7. Management qualification (or equivalent experience)
8. Advanced clinical skills
9. Non-medical Prescribing (v300)

Experience

Essential criteria

10. Experience in the relevant specialty Experience of working in a multi-professional environment
11. Experience of managing a ward area/department
12. Experience of working with preregistration nursing/midwifery students in a mentorship role
13. Experience of undertaking audit
14. Experience of using reflective learning to support the development of self and staff

Desirable criteria

15. Experience of participating in research
