Overview
Transport Operator (Nights) role at Superdrug. Location: Stead House, Darlington. Night Shift - 10pm to 06am. This role would be based on the PM Shift but flexibility to work other shifts is required. The role operates a 5/7 working pattern with regular weekend work and some element of lone working.
Responsibilities
* You will ensure all drivers are issued with correct delivery instructions and activities, de-brief drivers after every trip and deliver feedback to the appropriate department
* To optimise all resources available
* Work closely with the warehouse operations function to ensure seamless loading and dispatch procedure
* Liaise with the planning team and provide information and recommendations where required
* Provide constructive feedback to the driver management team on performance and behaviour of drivers
* Ensure vehicles and trailers are kept within service schedules, booking all required maintenance and repairs with the relevant workshop
* Utilise the administration procedures accurately and in a timely manner, including all KPI support information
* Provide a first line of contact with stores in the event of schedule changes and daily issues
* Provide an effective shift handover to the incoming team
* Engage in a cooperative and positive culture within the Distribution Centre and the wider business
* Support colleagues, Team Leaders and Transport Manager where required
What You’ll Need
* Previous experience within a transport environment including managing drivers is an advantage but not essential
* Good understanding of cost accountability
* Excellent communications skills
* Flexibility and reliability
* Able to work within a team as well as on own initiative
* Customer facing exposure
