Job Summary
We are looking for a proactive, commercially aware Buyer to join our purchasing team. This is a hands-on role focused on executing purchasing activity, maintaining strong supplier relationships, and ensuring product availability across a busy, high-SKU environment.
You'll be responsible for raising and managing purchase orders, monitoring stock, supporting demand planning, and working closely with internal teams to keep goods flowing in line with sales requirements and operational capacity. The successful candidate will be confident working with data, comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, and capable of balancing availability, cost, and stock levels.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to progress their buying career, take on more responsibility, and have visible impact through improving availability, cost and service performance in a fast-moving environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Place purchase orders in line with demand requirements, stock policies and supplier lead times.
* Monitor stock levels and take action to avoid out-of-stocks and excess inventory.
* Maintain accurate purchasing data in the ERP/procurement system (pricing, lead times, supplier info, MOQ/pack sizes).
* Support forecasting and replenishment activity using sales data, trends and seasonality.
* Liaise with international suppliers to confirm pricing, availability, ETAs, shipment details and documentation.
* Chase order acknowledgements, track deliveries, and expedite where necessary to meet business priorities.
* Work with Warehouse and Logistics to support inbound planning and resolve delivery discrepancies.
* Work with Finance to resolve invoice queries, pricing discrepancies and credit notes.
* Support negotiations on price, lead time improvements and trading terms (with guidance where needed).
* Monitor supplier performance (OTIF, quality, responsiveness) and escalate recurring issues.
* Assist with range maintenance: discontinuations, substitutions, new line set-ups and sample management.
* Ensure purchasing activity complies with company policies and any relevant regulations
What We're Looking For
* Previous experience in a Buyer / Purchasing / Procurement role (or strong Junior Buyer ready for next step).
* Comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-paced, high-SKU environment (parts/accessories experience desirable).
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple orders, suppliers and priorities.
* Analytical and detail-oriented; confident using data to support purchasing decisions.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective supplier relationships.
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP/procurement systems.
* Commercial mindset with a practical, solutions-focused approach.
