Shift Electrical Engineer New Mills Location: New Mills, Derbyshire Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Pay rate: £21.88/hour Hours: Week 1: MonThurs 06:0014:00, Fri 06:0012:00 Week 2: MonThurs 14:0022:00, Fri 12:0018:00 Weekend call-out rota (max. 1 in 4 weekends after probation) About the Role We are looking for an experienced Shift Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering team at our New Mills site. Youll be part of a skilled group maintaining and improving our production facilities, ensuring minimal downtime and high equipment performance. This is a hands-on, varied role involving planned maintenance, fault finding, and project work, with occasional weekend cover on a rota basis. Key Responsibilities Respond to plant breakdowns quickly and effectively, minimising downtime Carry out planned and preventative maintenance tasks on time and in full Support production teams to meet operational targets and improve efficiency Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults and complete necessary repairs Participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency Record all maintenance activity on the CMMS (Shire) system Order and manage spare parts Support with machinery installation and decommissioning Provide weekend cover and attend call-outs as required Skills & Attributes Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills Organised, proactive, and able to work under pressure Good communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to work independently or as part of a team Commitment to Health & Safety standards and safe working practices Competent using Microsoft Office and mobile devices Qualifications & Experience Essential : Time-served engineering apprenticeship NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical/Mechanical/Electronic Engineering 18th Edition Wiring Regulations GCSE (Grade C or above) in Maths and English Ability to read and interpret technical drawings Desirable : HNC in Engineering FMCG or regulated industry experience Pay & Benefits Hourly rate: £21.88 (including shift allowance) Average 38-hour working week Weekend cover paid at 12 hours per day (Saturday & Sunday) Company pension scheme Paid holidays & sick pay scheme (as per employee handbook) If youre a skilled Electrical Engineer looking for a role where you can make a real impact in a supportive team environment, wed love to hear from you.
