Our client, a market-leading construction contractor, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Buyer to join their team. This role is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced procurement professional to make a real impact across a diverse portfolio of construction projects.
The Senior Buyer will play a critical role in managing the procurement of materials and plant, ensuring best value, compliance, and efficiency across projects. Acting as a key link between project teams, supply chain partners, and internal stakeholders, the successful candidate will drive procurement strategies that deliver measurable value while supporting the successful delivery of complex construction works.
Experience & Skills
* 7+ years’ procurement experience, with at least 3 years in the construction sector.
* Strong knowledge of construction materials, products, and plant.
* Demonstrated track record of value creation and cost savings.
* Experience mentoring and developing team members.
* Financially and commercially astute, with excellent analytical ability.
* Proficient in COINS ERP and Microsoft Excel.
* Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the end-to-end procurement process for materials and plant.
* Develop and deliver project-specific procurement strategies.
* Negotiate supplier rates and agreements to ensure best value.
* Support bids and tenders with accurate pricing and supplier input.
* Drive adoption of e-procurement tools and continuous improvement.
* Build and maintain supplier partnerships and resolve performance issues.
* Mentor junior team members and lead by example.
Qualifications
* Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management (or equivalent).
* CIPS qualification (or working towards).
