We have a vacancy for a Professional Practice & Private Client tax manager to work in our Kent office tax team. This is a full-time permanent role with flexible working and progression opportunities. You will work closely with the tax partners and other managers and will manage the delivery of private client tax work to our Kent client base which will include advising sole traders, the directors of owner-managed businesses and family businesses, high net worth individual and trusts. You will be involved in a variety of private client self-assessment compliance work, tax advisory work and project-based planning and structuring work. You will also be involved in business development initiatives and working with the team to generate new work. You should be qualified ACA/CTA (or equivalent) with relevant, practical, private client compliance and advisory experience. Trust taxation experience is also preferred, although not essential. You will be expected to use your own initiative and work as part of a team, liaising with other tax specialists and other departments such as audit and our business solutions team. The role requirements ACA/CTA or equivalent qualification essential. Experience in the professional and private client sector, particularly in managing a compliance portfolio and providing tax advisory services to clients. A passion for client service. Display an energy and enthusiasm and a focus on achieving results. Your direct client responsibilities Developing and managing the private client relationship with clients. Leading work and being actively involved in the provision of advisory projects to clients (both proactively and reactively), including clients of other departments and offices. Reporting directly to tax partners and directors. Review of advice prepared by more junior members of the team, to a standard ready for partner approval. Tax compliance services: Management of the personal tax relationship on your client portfolio. Managing and overseeing the personal tax compliance cycle for your portfolio (including tax computations, returns and payments) and liaison with the client and HM Revenue & Customs. Delegation of preparatory aspects of personal tax work to junior members of the team and review of their work. Liaison with other agents and third parties such as investment managers, stockbrokers and banks where necessary. Dealing with HM Revenue & Customs’ enquiries into tax returns on client portfolio and on other clients as appropriate. Actively communicate with clients on a regular basis and discuss tax changes that may affect their circumstances Active liaison with Partners to raise awareness of changes in the business and personal situations of mutual clients. Prioritise and organise own work in a manner which is acceptable to all the Partners to which you work with. Leading and supporting business development initiatives. Including identifying opportunities to take additional services to clients and contacts. Taking primary responsibility for financial performance for the work performed on your clients and on other project work. Billing responsibility for your work, balancing the requirement to maximise recovery and manage client expectations. Considering and managing risk in all interactions with clients. Showing a sense of urgency and understanding of how the delivery of work (including speed, attention to detail, and quality) impacts the Firm’s ability to serve our clients.
