Description Infrastructure Engineer Location: Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire Security Clearance Level: High – Developed Vetting (DV) UNLEASH YOUR POTENTIAL The Geo Change Infrastructure Engineer will work alone and / or, as part of a team depending on the size and complexity of the change task to deliver Infrastructure changes in a demanding environment. Based primarily at our customer’s site near Huntingdon you will be providing infrastructure and network changes as part of the programme’s Geo Change Team, owning, and leading on a variety of infrastructure change tasks. You will have a broad range of knowledge and experience in the deployment and configuration of services based upon Microsoft and VMware products, having deployed virtual infrastructure within vSphere, and within containers such as Tanzu Kubernetes, along with an extensive understanding and experience of associated Windows-based technologies (including services such as AD, DNS, DHCP). A working knowledge and understanding of Linux, as well as other common back-end technologies such as SQL Server, networking (CISCO), and storage (NetApp), with the flexibility and aptitude to learn other additional complementary technologies as required, is also desirable. Have excellent knowledge of Windows Server Environments, from Server 2016 – 2025, including OS build, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, WSUS, SCCM and GPOs from design to implementation and support; Have a strong working knowledge of Linux system administration skills (Ubuntu / CentOS); Have strong knowledge of Windows 10 & 11, including OS build and customisation. Have strong knowledge of Virtualized Environments such as VMware and Hyper-V, with knowledge of VMware being an advantage; Have good knowledge of Virtualized Desktop Environments such as Omnissa and Citrix, with knowledge of Omnissa being an advantage, with further experience of virtualised applications Have good knowledge of backup products such as Veeam. Have strong general knowledge of TCP/IP and networking technologies including load balancing and firewalls; Have good general knowledge of Microsoft stack technologies such as SharePoint, Skype for Business, SQL, System Centre, Office 2024, SCCM & SCOM, Power BI, Exchange & CLI tooling such as PowerShell; Have strong general knowledge of NAS and SAN storage technologies; iSCSI, SMB/CIFS; Have experience of working in security cleared environments/working in Defence sector; Have excellent analysis and problem-solving skills, taking ownership of complex incidents ensuring these are resolved to the satisfaction of the customer; Strong focus on delivering value to customers; Possess excellent communication skills, ideally able to communicate technical issues to less technical staff and managers; Have experience in providing support to others, including Service Desk Analysts and Second Line Engineers; Proactive working attitude; Have experience of producing and updating technical documentation to a high standard; Occasional travel to other Leidos and customer sites may be required. Experience of ITIL Service Management Experience of software maintenance and support to include servers, workstations, laptops, network and peripheral devices. Experience in the installation and configuration of Microsoft Server 2008, 2016 and 2019. Experience in the installation and configuration of Microsoft Windows 10 and 11 workstations. Good knowledge of the configuration, maintenance and installation of Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) software applications. Extensive knowledge of windows domain architectures, Active Directory, Group Policy and DNS. Experience in the installation, configuration and maintenance of Enterprise Anti-Virus products. Experience in the installation, configuration and maintenance of Windows Server Update Services (WSUS). Experience of network setup and configuration. Defence experience. ITIL Foundation Qualification. Analytical and problem-solving skills Highly desirable Desirable knowledge in Oracle database. Desirable knowledge in Dell and or NetApp. Desirable knowledge in the full suite of Broadcom VMware products.
