Main duties of the job
Responsibilities include:
* Forensic sampling (including blood samples for road traffic offences).
* Signposting and conducting referrals; supporting vulnerabilities and helping patients break patterns of re-offending.
* Delivering substance misuse therapies.
* Assessment and care of detainees and staff in custody suites.
* Promoting good personal healthcare.
* Working with Liaison and Diversion teams to identify mental health needs.

Job responsibilities
This role is an excellent alternative career path for RGN's and qualified Paramedics with over 3 years' post-qualification experience.
Custody environments are dynamic and lively, with no two days alike. Detention periods can last up to 24 hours, during which we provide high-level care tailored to detainees' needs, from substance dependency to acute medical issues.
Our healthcare professionals are trained to collect forensic samples to support police investigations.
Experience in forensics is not necessary. As a Forensic Custody Healthcare Professional, you will work closely with police and receive training and support to become an accredited Forensic Practitioner.

Qualifications
* Registered Nurse or Paramedic qualification
Experience
* At least 3 years' post-qualification experience
* Experience in A&E, walk-in centres, substance misuse, community nursing, police custody, prisons, or as a Paramedic Practitioner is advantageous but not essential.

This role requires a DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
