Do you have a big heart, a warm smile, and a good sense of humour? Are you someone who enjoys making a real difference in someone's day - just by being yourself?
Meet J - a vibrant, affectionate young man with the most infectious smile and a sparkle in his eye. J doesn't use words to communicate, but if you're someone who tunes in with empathy, humour, and a willingness to learn, you'll quickly come to understand what he's telling you - from a cheeky grin to a gentle tug toward his favourite activity.
J lights up a room with his positivity and love for life. He thrives on interaction, laughter, and structure, and he's looking for people who can match his energy and provide patient, meaningful support. He loves his family deeply, enjoys people-watching, and treasures his photo albums. His day isn't complete without a little YouTube time (Catchphrase, Going for Gold, and Thomas the Tank Engine are top-tier favourites!), some bouncing on the trampoline, a dip in the pool, and music that makes you want to dance - Scar, Reggae, and Motown fill his space with joy.
J communicates through gestures, body language, vocalisations, and guiding you to what he wants. He may need a little extra processing time and consistent routines to help him feel safe and understood, but when you "get" J - you'll know it. The shared smiles and spontaneous laughter are worth everything.
J has a few things he finds tricky - loud noises, sudden transitions, and unfamiliar places can make him feel unsettled, so it's important that the people around him are calm, reassuring, and responsive. He needs 2:1 support in the community, not because he can't enjoy himself, but because he needs help to safely explore everything the world has to offer.
J is looking for people who can:
Be playful and warm, yet consistent and clear.
Help him access the community in small, safe steps.
Share in his passions, like snooker clips, Barney Live, and a good drive out.
Support his health needs with confidence, including managing epilepsy and mealtimes safely.
You'll be part of a close circle of care - his mum, dad, and brother are very involved and know him best. You'll also work within a thoughtful environment designed just for J, in his own bungalow, where he has the space to be his true self.
