3 Month Contract With A Local Authority Job Purpose: To plan, deliver, and assess English language learning sessions for adult learners with English as a Second or Other Language (ESOL), supporting them to develop skills in Speaking and Listening, Reading, and Writing. Teaching is delivered in small group settings within community-based venues. Key Responsibilities: Plan and deliver engaging ESOL classes tailored to learners’ needs, abilities, and levels. Teach in community settings such as libraries, community centres, and children’s centres. Support learners in developing English language skills for everyday use, employment, and further study. Conduct initial assessments and ongoing progress assessments to ensure appropriate placement and support. Prepare learners for accredited assessments in Speaking and Listening, Reading, and Writing, where appropriate. Track learner attendance, engagement, and progress using agreed systems. Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities. Provide regular feedback and guidance to learners to support their development. Create an inclusive, respectful, and supportive learning environment. Work collaboratively with colleagues, venue staff, and support services. Ensure all safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection policies are followed. Requirements Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, CertEd, or equivalent) ESOL subject specialism (e.g., CELTA, TESOL, or equivalent) Proven experience teaching ESOL to adult learners Experience planning and delivering learner-centred lessons at different levels Familiarity with ESOL assessment frameworks and accredited qualifications Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and manage a small group learning environments
