We are looking to recruit a talented and enthusiastic person to join our highly successful and inclusive Sixth Form College. The successful candidate will be committed, inspirational and dynamic individual with a passion for supporting Arts teaching. This role will primarily involve support the provision in the Level 3 UAL Music Performing and Production course and A Level Music Technology courses. The faculty has dedicated teaching spaces including a Music Suite with Apple Macs running Logic software, five live performance and practice rooms and two recording studios. An ability to maintain and support in these areas and all of the Music equipment is essential. Students perform in a variety of Arts venues and a desire to work practically to support the curriculum is essential. The technician will be working as part of our highly successful Faculty for Performing and Visual Arts. The college offers a wide range of courses in this area including A Levels in Drama, Dance, Photography, Graphics, Textiles and Fine Art; UAL Level 3 Performance and Production (Musical Theatre and Acting Pathways) and UAL Level 2 Art and Design. Contract: Permanent, 1 day per week (8.30am-4.30pm), 41 weeks per year (term time plus 2). Salary: Support Staff Pay Scale 8, currently £26,434 FTE, Range 8-10 (actual salary SCP 8 £4,812.11 p/a) Start Date: Thursday 20th August 2026 Closing Date: Wednesday 20th May 2026 Interview Date: W/C Monday 1st June 2026 Itchen College is a thriving Sixth Form College with a broad curriculum offer to meet the needs of the local community. Key Responsibilities To assist teaching staff by supervising individual or groups of students within the classroom and Music Students Responsible for providing support for Music students in their use of dedicated equipment To support student rehearsals and presentations of productions and gigs including evening and after-College work To conduct regular checks on musical instruments, equipment and technology throughout the department, maintaining all to a high level of safety, performing repairs or arranging for repairs to be made To ensure the set up and break down of all studio spaces, ready for teaching, on a daily basis Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Good communication skills with both staff and students 5 GCSE’s including English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above Experience with live sound equipment and mixing Ability to carry out routine maintenance on music equipment, including re-stringing guitars and simple / minor repairs. Understanding of health and safety in context of Performing Arts Willingness to learn how to carry out soldering repairs for instrument wiring / cables.
