How would you like to be paid for five days but only work four*?

Our colleagues’ wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do at OFG, so we’re always looking for new ways to improve everyone’s work/life balance. We’re taking part in a trial of the 4-Day Working Week, meaning that you could be working one day less a week (or equivalent).

4DWW will be rolled out within our school, when we have a full complement of staff, and within the next year – so there’s never been a more exciting time to join us #teamOFG!

Become a Learning Support Assistant at Crookhey Hall School, part of Acorn Education, and start working towards yours.

Salary: £20,906.25 per annum (not pro-rata)

Location: Crookhey Hall School, Lancaster, LA2 0HA

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am-4.00pm

Contract: Permanent, Term Time only

UK Applicants only. This role does not offer sponsorship.

After 6 weeks in post, you will qualify for the 4-day working week - work 4 days but get paid for 5 days!

Crookhey Hall School is a Social and Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) School catering for boys and girls aged 10 - 17 years. We provide young people with an educational experience that extends their academic, vocational, and social skills, promotes personal growth, and helps build self-esteem. Our goal is for each individual to aspire to achieve their full potential and make a positive contribution to society.

The school is located on a 15-acre site in the countryside south of Cockerham, near Lancaster. Due to the location, having a driving license is beneficial.

The aim is to support each pupil to live fulfilling and productive lives by providing a safe, supervised environment with ample freedom. This is achieved through the dedication of our passionate, reliable, and understanding professionals.

Acorn Education is the UK’s leading independent provider of specialist education, part of Outcomes First Group, leading the sector in innovative approaches with measurable outcomes.

In 2024, Outcomes First Group was certified as a ‘Great Place to Work’ for the fifth consecutive year.

The opportunity

Enjoy a rewarding career in education and have a meaningful impact on pupils’ lives. Join our supportive team to make our schools enriching places where vulnerable pupils can succeed beyond expectations.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work directly with pupils, helping them maximize their educational potential. Responsibilities include preparing learning materials, running classroom activities, and supporting pupils' emotional and physical needs to foster their development and engagement.

You will support pupils with SEMH needs, benefiting from experienced team support, and directly contribute to their progress and well-being.

Who we are looking for

You should be adaptable, capable of working in various classroom roles indoors and outdoors, and possess a qualification in English/Maths. A caring, responsive approach is essential, whether leading activities or supervising outdoor exploration.

Our schools thrive on teamwork and mutual support. If you enjoy collaborative work, complete our safeguarding-compliant application form, and a team member will contact you.

Your health and wellbeing are important, and we offer an exceptional benefits package including:

* Life Assurance
* Pension scheme with flexible contribution options
* Access to mental health support and health checks through “Your Wellbeing Matters”

Our Flexible Benefits Platform, Vista, allows you to choose benefits such as:

* Health, wellbeing, and insurance benefits
* Discount options in the UK and abroad
* Cycle to Work Schemes
* Electric Car Purchase Scheme
* Critical illness cover
* Family Growth Support, including enhanced maternity/paternity leave and fertility treatments

Our primary focus is the welfare of pupils and vulnerable young adults. All applicants will undergo social media checks, and successful candidates will require an enhanced DBS.

*You’ll work 80% of your contractual hours for 100% of your pay, providing more personal time. 4DWW is subject to successful probation and is not a contractual benefit.
