Are you calm, resilient, and passionate about supporting children with additional behavioural needs? We’re looking for a Behaviour Intervention Assistant to join a dedicated team in a Primary school, supporting pupils who need a consistent, understanding approach to help them regulate and succeed.
About the Role
You’ll be working closely with pupils who may display challenging behaviour due to social, emotional, or mental health needs.
Your role will involve:
* Providing 1:1 and small-group support to help pupils manage emotions and develop positive coping strategies.
* Supporting children who may exhibit physically challenging behaviour, including biting, hitting, or spitting.
* Using positive behaviour support and de-escalation strategies at all times.
* Safely using approved restraint or physical intervention techniques when necessary to ensure the safety of all pupils and staff.
* Working as part of a skilled, supportive team to promote progress, wellbeing, and confidence.
About You
You’ll need to be:
* Patient, calm, and confident when managing challenging situations.
* Experienced in working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs (school, care, or youth work background).
* Trained in or open to training in physical intervention (Team Teach, PRICE, MAPA, or similar).
* Emotionally resilient, with a genuine commitment to supporting children with complex needs.
* A positive role model who believes in restorative approaches and building trust through consistency.
