Gas Engineer Role - North East England
We are seeking a Gas Engineer to operate across North East England, supporting residents with reactive repairs within our property portfolio. The role involves working on a planned route, including carrying out service repairs, assisting with breakdowns, and installing new systems.
All gas work must comply with The Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998 and Mears Gas Procedures. The engineer will perform gas repairs and maintenance in domestic premises according to work orders, maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. Applicants must be gas qualified with current Domestic ACS certification. They are also responsible for completing and maintaining all relevant paperwork and electronic records for audit and invoicing purposes, seeking authorization for any work outside the original scope, and managing stock and materials. Reporting safeguarding concerns promptly and participating in emergency call-out cover as required are also essential to ensure contract compliance and service quality.
Role Criteria:
1. Qualified to City and Guilds/ Gas Service Engineer standard with appropriate ACS certifications (CCN1, CENWAT, CPA); CKR1 and HTR1 are preferable but not essential.
2. Good understanding of current legislation, building control, and governing body requirements.
3. Experience with heating boilers, central heating, piping, plumbing, and valves.
4. Reliable and flexible, willing to work additional hours and participate in a call-out rota as needed.
5. UK Driving License is required.
All roles require candidates to have the entitlement to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not provided. To drive a Mears vehicle, candidates must be over 21, have held their license for over 3 months, and have fewer than 9 points. All roles are subject to DBS/Security checks before employment begins.
