Overview
AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) designs, plans, delivers, and operates all AWS global infrastructure. In this role, you will work with Network Deployment and Vendor Management teams to integrate quality assurance into cable installation processes throughout the project lifecycle. You will participate in reviews of training curriculums and cabling design documents, influence partner teams and cabling vendors to adopt quality assurance checklists, gather feedback, and refine processes based on stakeholder needs. Your work will directly impact data center network reliability and customer experience.
Key Job Responsibilities
* Work with Network Deployment and Vendor Management teams to integrate quality assurance into cable installation processes throughout the project lifecycle.
* Participate in reviews of training curriculums and cabling design documents, providing Quality Assurance representation to ensure standards are met during cable installation activities.
* Influence partner teams and cabling vendors to adopt quality assurance checklists that validate conformance to both Amazon and jurisdictional standards during critical milestone checks for cable installation and testing activities.
* Gather feedback from internal stakeholders and cabling vendors, refining quality processes based on their needs.
* Verify cable installations meet standards by reviewing documentation and data from milestone inspections and cable validation testing.
* Drive cable validation testing adoption and defect management while establishing performance benchmarks to improve vendor performance and enhance quality metrics.
* Document and align cable installation standards and standard operating procedures as new technology and cabling methods integrate into our infrastructure.
* Conduct training with partner teams and provide guidelines to cabling vendors to ensure consistent execution across all network installations.
A Day in the Life
As a member of this team, you will be charged with visiting our data centers and ensuring that we are following AWS and industry standards while also collecting lessons learned so we are continually improving. You will work directly with engineers, managers, and operations teams across the company to develop and improve network pathway and installation standards based on these observations and lessons learned.
Basic Qualifications
* Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies.
* Associate's degree in Telecommunications or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
* 2+ years of experience inside plant cabling installation in data center environments.
* Knowledge of basic quality tools such as defect categorization, root cause analysis, or quality reporting systems.
* Knowledge of fiber optic, copper (CAT 5e/6/6A) cabling installation standards.
Preferred Qualifications
* Knowledge of small to moderate scale program management with internal team and contractors.
* Knowledge of critical data center equipment.
* Excellent communication skills, problem solving, attention to detail, root cause analysis experience, and ability to maintain high quality standards.
* Proven track record of identifying creative and innovative solutions to improve quality, reliability, or maintainability.
