SEND Support Worker – Education and Training – SEND Support Worker
Milk Education is working with a large SEND specialist provision in the Southend area to recruit SEND Support Workers who genuinely want to make a positive difference in the lives of children and young people with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD).
This role is ideal for individuals who are patient, caring, and passionate about helping children feel safe, understood, and included in their learning. As a school-based SEND Support Worker, you will work closely with pupils who may be non-verbal, have physical disabilities, or require high levels of personalised support. A calm, non-judgemental approach and strong communication skills are essential.
Both full-time and part-time roles are available, offering flexibility to suit your availability.

SEND Support Worker – Key Responsibilities
1. Provide consistent 1:1 and small-group support for pupils aged 5–19 with a range of PMLD
2. Support the delivery of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
3. Encourage emotional wellbeing, communication, and social development
4. Communicate clearly and professionally with teachers, school staff, and external professionals
5. Support with personal care when required, including moving and handling, toileting, PEG feeding, etc. (full training provided)
6. Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
SEND Support Worker – Person Specification
7. Experienced support workers open to working with children are well suited to this role due to the complex needs of the pupils
8. Previous experience administering personal care is advantageous
9. A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
10. A patient, caring, and non-judgemental approach
11. Strong communication skills with the ability to adapt to individual needs
12. Ability to work proactively, both independently and as part of a team
13. An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
