T H WHITE’s Groundcare division provides sales, parts, service, and hire of groundcare and forestry equipment to professional users.
Apprenticeship Overview: Apprenticeships can lead to a role as a qualified groundcare machinery engineer, with potential progression into sales or parts departments. Study is conducted at college on a block release basis, leading to an NVQ in Landbased Engineering.
Practical Experience: Gained through training in electronic and hydraulic systems, maintaining grass cutting heads on various machines, and on-site work at private estates, golf courses, and local authorities, along with health & safety training.
Specialised product training from suppliers and registration on the Land-based Technician Accreditation scheme are also available.
Hours: 40 hours a week, subject to working hours regulations.
Key Duties: Apprenticeships typically last 4 years, combining day or block release at college for knowledge acquisition with on-the-job practical experience. Training includes forklift operation, specialist product training, and health & safety.
The Ideal Applicant: This route is suitable for students who prefer a hands-on approach to learning. Many managers, sales representatives, and department heads within the company started via apprenticeships.
