Job Title: Multi Skilled Engineer
Location: Corby, Northamptonshire
Salary: £37,359 to £47,878 per annum (depending on experience)
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
Shift Pattern: Weekly rotating shift pattern: 6am-2pm Monday-Friday, 2pm-10.30pm Monday-Thursday, 1pm-6pm Friday. During training, 8am-5pm Monday-Friday.
About the role
Solidus Solutions offers a full‑time, permanent position for a Multi Skilled Engineer based in Corby, Northamptonshire. Occasionally the engineer may be required to travel to other UK sites (e.g., Skipton) to assist with complicated breakdowns, projects or performance‑related issues.
Key Responsibilities
* Act in the best interests of Solidus Solutions when dealing with suppliers, customers and colleagues, demonstrating integrity and professionalism.
* Support business processes, promote equality, diversity and Health & Safety environments.
* Ensure efficient daily running of the site by performing engineering maintenance, repair and installation duties as priorities dictate.
* Electrical and mechanical maintenance and installation.
* Proactively manage own work to ensure effective maintenance is carried out on schedule.
* Respond to electrical and mechanical breakdowns; ensure all work complies with current IEE Wiring Regulations where applicable.
* Assist with installation and project work.
* Perform plant‑wide lubrication schedules and plant condition monitoring.
* Ensure Health & Safety is adhered to in line with legislation, conduct daily and safety checks, record them and maintain safety equipment.
* Comply with BRC Certification requirements, encourage good levels of site cleanliness and hygiene.
* Keep production downtime to a minimum, proactively seek and report works, and assist in establishing job priorities.
* Monitor minor maintenance performed by operations colleagues.
* Actively seek spares and take responsibility for ordering components to ensure completion.
* Maintain up‑to‑date budget sheets to aid engineering manager’s cost control.
* Achieve departmental objectives in the allocated area.
* Attend briefings and meetings as required or invited.
* Show flexibility with working hours during busy periods, breakdowns and project work.
* Establish an effective working relationship with other team members.
Essential Requirements
* Apprentice training with an electrical bias preferred.
* Minimum of City and Guilds Level 3 in one of the disciplines.
* 18th Edition certification preferable.
* Ideally 5 years or more experience in a similar industry.
Desirable Requirements
* PLC interrogation and diagnostic skills.
* Robot programming and diagnostic knowledge.
* Working knowledge of printing, die‑cutting and gluing machinery for the packaging industry.
