Portfolio Procurement has been engaged by our leading South Yorkshire based client to recruit for a Purchasing Manager.
The role
You will be responsible for managing both the current and future needs of the Purchasing department.
Responsibilities
* Managing, supporting, and coaching of the team
* Negotiation of all current and new purchasing contracts
* Develop and maintain a supply base globally
* Select new suppliers based on factors including cost and suitability/competence to supply
* Re-tender of all current and new commodities
* Align all material management processes
Skills and Experience
* Previous Purchasing experience at a senior level to include a solid understanding of Steel, Fabrications and Machined commodities
* Previous experience in managing a team
* Ability to travel globally should the need arise
* An understanding of lean manufacturing
