Role Responsibilities and Duties for Commissioning Engineer
* Commission and configure door entry systems, access control systems, and associated security solutions coupled with Life Safety
* Perform system testing, fault finding, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.
* Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
* Ensure all systems are installed and commissioned in line with industry standards and client requirements.
* Work closely with installation teams, project managers, and clients during project delivery.
* Provide on-site and remote technical support where required.
* Deliver system training and handover documentation to clients.
* Maintain accurate records of commissioning activities and system configurations.
* Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations at all times
* Adhoc duties as required
Qualifications & Experience Required for a Commissioning Engineer
* 5+ years practical experience
* Experience with CCTV and intruder alarm systems and fire alarm systems.
* Knowledge of networking protocols and structured cabling.
* Proven experience as a Commissioning Engineer or similar role in the security systems industry.
* Strong hands‑on experience with:
o Door entry systems (audio/video intercoms)
o Door access control systems (keypads, fobs, biometric systems)
o Knowledge of system integration, including networking (IP‑based systems).
* Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
* Familiarity with leading access control and door entry manufacturers (e.g., Urmet, Paxton, Hikvision, BPT, Videx, Comelit).
* Understanding of wiring standards and electrical principles.
* Strong communication and customer‑facing skills.
* Full UK driving licence
* Proficient user of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio)
* Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
* Strong organisational, communication, and problem‑solving skills
* Detail‑orientated approach
