Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Health and Safety Manager role based in London. The Health and Safety Manager will develop, implement, and maintain health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures aligned with legal and industry standards. The role involves conducting site inspections and audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations, and ensuring corrective actions are implemented and documented. The manager will deliver toolbox talks and safety training, promote best practices on tunnelling and sewer connection projects, and support supervisors and site teams in maintaining safe working conditions. The position also includes preparing safety reports, maintaining compliance records, liaising with regulatory bodies and clients, and continuously improving safety culture across all projects.
Qualifications
* Strong knowledge of Health & Safety management in construction or civil engineering, including tunnelling or underground works.
* Experience in Environment Health and Safety (EHS) and Occupational Health, with the ability to integrate environmental and occupational risk controls into site operations.
* Proven capability in Safety Training, including delivering toolbox talks, inductions, and ongoing competency-based safety programs.
* NEBOSH (e.g., NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate) or equivalent health and safety qualification; membership or working towards membership of a recognised professional body (e.g., IOSH) is advantageous.
* Solid understanding of UK health and safety legislation and regulations relevant to construction and utilities.
* Excellent communication, coaching, and influencing skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with site teams and management.
* Strong analytical and reporting skills, including experience with risk assessments, method statements, and incident investigations.
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites within the London area as required.
