Quantity Surveyor
Between Chichester and Southampton
We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team. In this role, you will work closely with your line manager and wider project team to support the commercial administration, reporting, and financial performance of either a large single project or a number of smaller schemes.
What you'll be doing
* Contribute to creating and maintaining a safe, inclusive working environment.
* Prepare and manage subcontract documentation, including pricing, programme, and terms and conditions.
* Manage subcontract work packages, including interim valuations and change control.
* Produce and issue commercial notices to clients and subcontractors in line with contractual requirements.
* Manage change in a timely manner, including the preparation and submission of Compensation Event quotations where applicable.
* Prepare, submit, and agree monthly applications for payment with the client.
* Work collaboratively with site, operational, and engineering teams to ensure accurate and compliant record‑keeping.
* Produce monthly reports and Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) in line with project and business requirements.
* Develop and maintain cost plans, including forecasting expenditure, monitoring subcontractor liabilities, and using cost management systems such as Oracle.
* Review and analyse expenditure reports generated by internal systems.
* Attend regular progress and risk review meetings with clients and subcontractors.
* Apply ethical, value‑driven decision‑making to support project success. You may also contribute contractual expertise to estimating and bidding activities where required.
About you
* A working knowledge of standard forms of contract.
* Confidence using IT systems, including Microsoft Excel and Word, and commercial or cost management systems (such as CEMAR or Oracle).
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
* An understanding of construction processes and commercial practices.
* Good organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
* A relevant degree and/or experience in a commercial or construction‑related environment.
* Professional membership (e.g. MCIOB or MRICS), or working towards membership, is desirable but not essential.
* Experience supporting large projects or multiple smaller schemes.
* Appropriate CSCS certification (or a willingness to obtain this).
