School Business Manager – Fairisle Infant and Nursery School

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated and dedicated Business Manager to join our devoted and hardworking “Fairisle Family” team!
Key Responsibilities
* Financial Management: oversee budgeting, financial planning and reporting, propose revisions as necessary and ensure compliance with regulations.
* HR Administration: recruit, contract, payroll, staff absence, and maintain central records.
* Facilities and Premises: in partnership with the site manager ensure safety, maintenance and compliance.
* Procurement and Contracts: lead purchasing, supplier management, negotiate contracts and monitor performance.
* Strategic Planning: contribute to long‑term planning, income generation and cost‑saving initiatives.
* Compliance and Governance: support policies, audits and regulatory requirements including GDPR and safeguarding.
* Lead the Admin Team and act as line manager.
* Attend SLT weekly meetings, Governors meetings (7 times a year) and other meetings directed by the Headteacher.
Essential Skills And Experience
* Strong financial acumen and experience in strategic planning, budgeting and reporting.
* Demonstrated service delivery and effective system implementation.
* Meticulous attention to detail, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
* Excellent organisational and leadership skills, able to work autonomously and as part of a team.
* Knowledge of HR procedures and school operations.
* Excellent communication with staff, parents, governors and external stakeholders.
* Experience in a school or educational setting desirable but not essential.
* Accounting qualification or significant experience in financial management.
* Minimum two years of relevant finance/business work experience.
Desirable
* Knowledge of school financial systems (SIMS, Access, Business World, Tucasi).
* School Business Manager qualification (e.g. Fellow of NASBM, DSBM, CSBM, ILM Level 4 Diploma of SBM).
