We are seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Engineer to repair, service, and maintain production equipment and site infrastructure using appropriate tools and materials. This role is critical to ensuring minimal disruption to operations, maintaining high-quality standards, and supporting continuous production within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in responding to breakdowns, maintaining equipment performance, and supporting operational changes such as equipment reconfiguration, while ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Carry out production breakdown maintenance, repairing or replacing equipment in line with the breakdown request system
2. Accurately record downtime and associated data for all maintenance activities
3. Keep stakeholders informed of progress, timelines, and expected outcomes
4. Minimise disruption to production and maintain strong working relationships across departments
5. Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with Health & Safety regulations
6. Service and maintain production machinery and site infrastructure
7. Reconfigure and reposition manufacturing equipment and services to support changes in production flow
8. Prioritise tasks effectively and work to agreed schedules
9. Manage workload within a production environment in a calm, methodical manner
10. Organise and coordinate contractors and suppliers as required
11. Manage inventory within the workshop
12. Understand and apply internal and external quality standards
13. Identify and resolve equipment and process issues efficiently
14. Use Continuous Improvement methodologies to enhance effectiveness
15. Follow all work instructions, safe working procedures and company policies
16. Handle and store materials safely to prevent harm or damage
17. Maintain a safe, compliant working environment at all times
What We Are Looking For
18. Time-served apprenticeship in an engineering discipline, or equivalent Level 2 NVQ/BTEC
19. Experience working within a manufacturing environment
20. Knowledge of job-specific Health & Safety legislation
21. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to respond quickly to issues
22. Effective communicator with the ability to provide regular updates
23. Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments and sites
24. Organised and able to manage multiple priorities effectively
25. Methodical and calm under pressure
26. Experience in breakdown maintenance and equipment repair
27. Understanding of production processes and quality standards
28. Ability to manage resources and prioritise workload efficiently
