We work closely with Kids First Nurseries that are based within our trust grounds at Wansbeck, North Tyneside and Hexham hospitals to care for our Trust family's children, they offer care for children from 6 weeks old up to 4 years. Job overview

An exciting opportunity to join the MELISSA (Mobile Educational Learning, Improving Simulation and Safety Activities) Team.

The NHS MELISSA service is a NHSE Faculty of Patient Safety Workstream hosted by Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust which facilitates Educational and Healthcare initiatives in communities across the North East & North Cumbria.

This role will entail supporting/managing event bookings and working with organisations across the region to deliver initiatives including; NHS Careers Promotion, Training (simulation and clinical skills), Public Awareness campaigns, Vaccine Clinics and more.

You will be expected to meet with event leads, plan and attend certain events as well as follow up with an evaluation to ensure the continued provision and reputation of MELISSA.

This role is very autonomous with a hybrid working pattern and requires flexibility from the successful applicant. No two days are the same and you will have the opportunity alongside the service lead and driving staff to work with hundreds of event leads and organisations across the NENC as you continue to build a portfolio of initiatives being supported within the service.


Main duties of the job

* This role will manage the continued operation and sustainability of MELISSA (Mobile Educational Learning, Improving Simulation and Safety Activities), a mobile education and healthcare initiative facility. MELISSA is the operational arm of the NHS England Faculty of Patient Safety, delivering with system wide education and training in line with Patient Safety, Simulation and NHS Strategy.
* The role will be accountable for all aspects of maintaining and managing the facility, from social media promotion, website administration, events management, queries and team leadership.
* The postholder will be expected to promote and represent the service including but not limited to: attending and presenting at key regional meetings, producing reports, creating academic submissions with the support of the faculty for regional and national events.
* The post holder will have a valid driving licence and is either a car owner and able to use the car for work purposes or has a Trust personal lease vehicle which may be used for the role.
* To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

* Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
* Specialist management qualification or equivalent level of in-depth experience and knowledge
* An understanding of procurement rules and contract management in an NHS setting. Manage ongoing agreements and warranties, ensuring quality of provision is maintained at all times.
* Evidence of recent and ongoing CPD / learning in management and healthcare.
* An understanding of NHS strategy and policy agendas.
* An understanding of service improvement tools and techniques.
* Understanding of clinical practice.
* Understanding of evaluation tools and techniques.
* Recent experience operating at a senior level, with proven track record of using professional knowledge (managerial and/or clinical) to bring about change.
* Significant experience in managing multiple business areas / different work streams.
* Experience of managing simulation training; scenarios, equipment, facilities would be desirable
* Proven track record and experience of successful working with clinical staff, leaders and directors across regional, and/or national platforms would be desirable.
* Track record of asset management.
* The post holder will lead work with organisations across the North East and North Cumbria foot-print therefore a good knowledge of the area is essential.
* It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has a valid driving licence and is either a car owner and able to use the car for work purposes, or has a Trust personal lease vehicle which may be used for the role.
