Building Control Surveyor/Registered Building Control Inspector Class 2A - Basildon Borough Council

Role Overview: The primary responsibility is to enforce Building Regulations and supervise buildings within the borough. Secondary duties include contributing to all service activities with flexibility to adapt to changing needs.
Key Duties:
1. Carry out building control duties within a designated area.
2. Negotiate and advise developers, applicants, and interested parties.
3. Stay updated with legislative changes.
4. Perform plan appraisals to ensure compliance with building regulations.
5. Communicate with architects, agents, contractors, and builders as needed.
Candidate Requirements:
* Experience in plans checks and onsite inspections, effective communication, IT skills, attention to detail, and workload organization.
* Knowledge of building regulations and related legislation.
* Understanding of Building Act 1984, Building Regulations, and Building Safety Act 2022.
* Recognized qualification in building control and membership or progress towards full membership in a professional body.
* Minimum registration with the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) as a 2A (Domestic) Registered Building Inspector, working towards 2B and above.
* Extensive building control experience, capable of working independently within policies and knowing when to seek assistance.
* Experience with LABC QMS systems and operational standards for building control.
