Job overview

* To work closely with the orthopaedic team in the day-to-day provision of plaster room care under the supervision and/or direction of the Orthopaedics Practitioner. To work as a member of the multidisciplinary team within the Orthopaedic Department.
* To liaise with other departments to ensure the smooth delivery of the service, this will require the use of clerical, verbal, electronic communication, and interpersonal skills.
* To assist and support the Orthopaedic Services team to ensure delivery of a high-quality service.
* Have a duty of candour with patients, relatives, and careers.

This role is not available for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship. Applicants must already have the legal right to work in the UK at the time of application. Unfortunately, we are unable to support visa applications for this post in line with UKVI regulations.


Main duties of the job

The post holder will practice at Band 3 as a development role. There will be an expectation to achieve a standard of knowledge within a set timeframe to enable attendance to The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital to study and undertake exams to gain qualification. The minimum timeframe to be eligible to attend the course is 12 months, the maximum timeframe for completion of course and qualification is 24 months. On successful completion of the British Casting Certificate (BCC) course, the position will progress to a band 4.

If the post holder is unable to attain the qualification within 24 months, then review meetings will be held to ascertain continuation of the Trainee position in line with the trust performance management policy.

For annual performance reviews after successfully obtaining BCC qualification to review progress, experience and CPD (Continuing Professional Development). If satisfactory then application to progress banding from 4 to 5 will be made by line managers.

No duties should be undertaken unless appropriate training or induction has taken place in accordance with trust policies.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING


Essential criteria

* Evidence of secondary education including English and Maths up to Level 2 or equivalent.
* Completion of a competency-based Workbook, level 3 healthcare certificate or equivalent relevant experience


Desirable criteria

* Understanding of basic anatomy and physiology relating to Orthopaedics
* IT literate knowledge of Microsoft software, Teams, Word, Excel


KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE


Essential criteria

* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (to understand and be understood)
* Recent Healthcare experience as a band 2-3.
* Understanding of the band 3 role in a healthcare setting.
