SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
We have the pleasure to announce a full-time position is available as a Hydrocarbon Fire Support Chemist.
You will be working in Jotun's start of the art Fire Protection Lab in Flixborough, UK, with our team of specialist Intumescent Chemists.
The main responsibilities of the role are:
* Carry out development tasks through planning, formulation, testing and evaluation of recipes and raw materials to ensure that the stakeholder expectations and needs are met.
* Lead complex projects and tasks, to support the sales of the Jotachar brand of products. Independently plan, co-ordinate, and follow-up, make sure that the set timelines are met according to the requested goals and budgetary frames.
* Participate actively in the working out of R&D tasks for the benefit of the entire department.
* Report results from development and maintenance work both orally and written to ensure that the correct decisions, based on current experience, are made.
* Search for, make use of and communicate knowledge to others through literature, practical experience, experience of others as well as attending courses to be one step ahead of development.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR AND WHAT WE OFFER
What we are looking for:
* We invite applications from candidates with a degree level education in a scientific subject.
* Can demonstrate experience of working in R&D with coatings.
* Has experience with intumescent coatings is preferable (hydrocarbon or epoxy).
* Excellent communication skills
* Knowledge / use of MS Office and Teams / Sharepoint is an advantage
* The ability to act on your own initiative, make things happen and take responsibility for the results.
* Use a methodical and systematic approach, plan ahead, define clear priorities and allocate resources effectively.
* Can quickly understand and analyze complex issues and problems and come up with sound and rational judgements.
* Can demonstrate specialist knowledge and expertise in your own area and participate in continuous professional development.
