Overview
Our Safer, Stronger Communities team is focused on ensuring communities, families and individuals are safe in their home and local area. The team works in partnership with organisations including West Yorkshire Police, health agencies, criminal justice services, the third sector and other council services. This collaborative work leads to a range of opportunities across this service, and no two days are ever the same. Anti-social behaviour (ASB) is a priority, and ASB case officers work in communities to support local solutions that improve the lives of everyone who lives in Leeds. The Prevent team connects counterterrorism policing, neighbourhood policing and communities to deliver local Prevent actions plans that divert vulnerable individuals away from radicalisation. CCTV operators in the city’s control room provide links to emergency services to help detect and deter crime and ASB, and to support access to out-of-hours council services. City centre liaison officers, as part of our street support team, are high-visibility patrols that foster effective partnership working between partner agencies and retailers while providing public reassurance. In local communities, our area-based locality teams address health and social inequalities in line with community safety priorities. The work is varied and requires the ability to work at pace with competing priorities, motivate key stakeholders, achieve successful outcomes and implement change through innovative collaboration. Our team members are responsive to local needs and committed to creating thriving, resilient communities across Leeds. If your values align with ours and you like working with a wide range of partners and community members, we might be the right fit for you.
