An exciting opportunity is available to join the admin team for the Sexual Health Service at Ysbyty Gwynedd as a Band 3 Booking Clerk on a permanent basis. This role is key to ensuring patients receive timely and confidential access to our services through efficient appointment management and excellent administrative support.
We are looking for someone who is organised, detail-oriented, and able to work accurately under pressure. You should have excellent communication skills, a professional and compassionate approach when dealing with sensitive enquiries, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Strong IT skills and a commitment to delivering a high-quality, patient-focused service are essential.
The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post
Main duties of the job
The Booking Clerk provides an accurate and timely administrative function to support the delivery of a professional, efficient, and effective centralised booking service for sexual health clinics.
You will ensure patients are booked in line with local and national access targets, using initiative in sometimes complex situations to maintain smooth patient flow. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will support colleagues to deliver a patient-focused booking experience and contribute to a cohesive and integrated administrative function within the service.

Qualifications
* Good General Standard of Education (e.g. GSCE Maths and English A-C and above or equivalent.
* NVQ level 3 or equivalent knowledge and experience and willing to work towards this qualification.
* I.T Qualification or proven experience using Microsoft Office Packages
* European Computer Driver Licence Qualification or equivalent experience or proven skills.
* Statutory Mandatory Training as per Health Board Policy
* Understanding of basic Medical Terminology
Exper
* Experience of working in an acute hospital/GP practice or Call Centre environment
* Experience dealing with the general public
* Ability to work as part of a team
* Experience of working directly with clinical/consultant staff
Skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills in order to deal with clinicians, senior managers and clerical staff
* Appreciate the needs of patients, carers and health care professionals.
* Ability to react to unpredictable issues, re-prioritising own workload if necessary
* Good keyboard skills for regular use of computer systems /IT skills
* Frequent and prolonged use of telephones
* Able to concentrate on Administrative duties in an unpredictable environment, ability to manage work with constant interruptions from patients, medical staff and external agencies.
* Competent in the use of Microsoft office
* Competent in the use of the PiMS Patient Administration System or similar PAS systems
Knowledge
* Familiarity with waiting list administrative procedures and policy issues
* Knowledge of PiMS or other patient administration systems or experience using data bases and excel to sort and filter data fields
* Knowledge of Data Protection
* Understanding of basic medical terminology
* Knowledge of Caldicott guidelines
