THE OPPORTUNITY
The role involves managing a team of three part-qualified accountants, producing accurate and meaningful management information, and supporting the Managing Director and Senior Management Teams in executing the vision of the Portfolio.
The portfolio includes four companies, four trusts, a limited liability partnership, and four small charities. The total turnover of these entities is approximately £9m, with a capital value of around £220m. The business primarily involves property investment, including high-yield industrial and commercial assets as well as residential and rural investments, with development opportunities in the short, medium, and long term, alongside a farming enterprise.
The expansion of estate investments is facilitated through acquisitions funded by secured lending, while on-estate commercial portfolio expansion is supported by reinvested net profits, including conversion of disused agricultural properties, refurbishment of residential assets, and development site promotion.
The role requires a strong approach to cost control and attention to detail to maximize net profit, which will fund reinvestment. Secured lending is only used for financing asset acquisitions or large-scale developments once planning consent is obtained.
The MD has broad experience in private equity investment and will rely on the FD to provide financial analysis and reporting to support the business's investment strategy, supported by a senior management team with expertise in Commercial Property, Land Management, Construction, and Farming sectors.
The current financial processes are under review to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. Maintaining a solid financial platform and developing the finance team will enable this role to provide greater support to the MD and Senior Management Team.
This opportunity suits a qualified finance professional with a technical, commercial, and practical mindset, who has the appetite to lead, collaborate, contribute to discussions, and help shape the business's strategic vision.
