We are currently looking for a Court of Protection Caseworker to join our Private Client department at our newly refurbished Birmingham office! This role is perfect for someone who is compassionate, organised, and has a strong sense of responsibility, with a genuine desire to make a positive impact on people's lives. If you're looking for an opportunity to support individuals who are unable to manage their financial affairs, helping them live with dignity and independence, we'd love to hear from you!
As a Court of Protection Caseworker, you will play a vital role in managing the financial affairs of those who lack the capacity to do so themselves. You will work alongside a supportive team of 10 people in our Private Client Department, backed by administrative and secretarial support, all dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable individuals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Setting and maintaining personal and household budgets for clients.
2. Handling client payments and balancing accounts.
3. Coordinating contractors, therapists, care staff, and other third-party professionals.
4. Responding to emergency situations quickly, empathetically, and efficiently, always with the client's best interests in mind.
5. Providing clear financial reports and offering recommendations to appointed deputies regarding budgets, financial requests, and changes in circumstances.
6. Ensuring clients are able to live their lives fully and independently by effectively managing their financial and practical needs.
Benefits:
* Hybrid working.
* 25 days holiday plus 2 gift days at Christmas.
* Opportunity for 3 days of social purpose volunteering.
* For Birmingham colleagues, a newly refurbished office with onsite café and free access to gym.
* All IT equipment and support for home working.
* Excellent technical training programme and opportunities for sector expertise development.
While prior experience as a Court of Protection caseworker is not essential, we are looking for candidates with experience in areas such as volunteering or working as a charity or church treasurer, local housing officer, bank cashier, or similar roles. Your expertise can come from hands-on experience rather than formal qualifications.
Key Skills:
* Proficiency in Excel for budgeting, forecasting, and financial management.
* Strong project management skills, including setting and tracking budgets.
* Practical knowledge of managing household budgets, coordinating property works, and making informed recommendations for clients.
* Exceptional communication skills in all forms, with the ability to engage with clients and professionals at all levels.
* Patience and empathy in handling sensitive situations.
* Clean driving licence and access to a car for business use.
