Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – WN3, Wigan
Contract: Temporary – Full-Time & Part-Time Opportunities Available
Start Date: September 2025
A friendly and inclusive primary school in the WN3 area of Wigan is seeking a skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team from September 2025.
In this role, you will work across Key Stages 1 and 2, delivering pre-planned lessons in the teacher’s absence, leading small group or one-to-one interventions, and supporting pupils to reach their full potential. This position is ideal for an adaptable and enthusiastic HLTA who thrives in a collaborative school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead whole-class learning sessions using pre-prepared plans when the teacher is absent.
* Deliver targeted interventions to support pupil progress in key subjects.
* Assist with planning and delivering engaging classroom activities.
* Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and support staff to meet pupil needs.
* Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Requirements:
* HLTA status or equivalent Level 4 qualification.
* Experience working in a primary school, ideally across KS1 and KS2.
* Strong classroom management skills and the ability to adapt to different groups.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills.
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
* Sound understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
