The role
What will you be doing?
As a Communications Consultant you will be:
Drafting communications material and ensuring all materials meet LCP quality standards. These materials might include newsletters, website copy, member guides and booklets, educational material including short videos, tutorials and seminars, email nudges and postcards as well as annual member benefit statementsReviewing drafts produced by other members of the team, feeding back comments and ensuring changes are made in line with the project timescalesManaging workload and campaigns, including the development of project plans and liaison with client and internal stakeholders and external suppliersBriefing the LCP Brand & Design team to develop high-quality designs for less complex projects, from concepts to completion of finished artworkChecking your own work for errors, inconsistencies and improvements before sharing with more experienced team members for reviewFollowing LCP procedures and best practice, particularly when producing external materials or handling client dataSupporting the development of new products and services for both digital and print mediaSupporting the new business processContributing to the development of client communication strategies and campaignsManaging the production of communications, for example by liaising with web-developers or instructing printersSupporting client relationship management, preparing materials, and attending client meetings where appropriateDevelopment of templates and best practice materialAnalysis of data from member surveys, client feedback, website monitoring and focus groups to understand the changing nature of audiences and best use of traditional and new technologiesWhat skills and experience are we looking for?
Essential -
Strong experience of working as a pensions communications consultant, leading relationships with fee-paying clientsVery experienced in drafting engaging, accurate and accessible copy for a range of audiences and mediaA strong eye for design, and experience briefing designers and working alongside them to generate the great creative ideasDemonstrable success in building great client relationshipsA strong understanding of the UK pensions market, understanding all products, schemes and providersComfortable with the language of investments and pensions, and experience in making this understandable for non-expertsExperience and understanding of delivering via print, web, video, digital and motion graphics and of working alongside specialist suppliers in these fieldsAble to plan and prioritise effectively, as demonstrated by experience working on numerous projects simultaneously, building project plans and delivering to themAble to price work, manage budgets and support the client billing processExperience of checking your own copy and that of others, and of giving feedback to colleagues to improve standards across the teamA strong understanding of business risks relating to communications, and how to follow established working practices and proceduresExperience in applying your skills to help people understand pensionsProficient in Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, with an understanding of Adobe Creative Suite. Comfortable with a range of AI toolsDesirable -
Graduate-level educationStrong technical knowledge of pensions legislation as it pertains to communicationsExperience managing cross-functional teams to ensure delivery of client workExperience of responding to new business requests or presenting in pitchesCommunications thought leadership, such as presenting at conferences or producing blogsExperience of developing new products and services for clientsPensions or investment qualificationsWhat’s in it for you?
