We’re looking for a friendly and reliable Catering Assistant to join our dedicated team; you will work at either of our hospice sites in Stoke-on-Trent (children’s hospice site and adult hospice site) on a 6-month fixed term basis.
You’ll support the catering operation by delivering nutritious, high-quality food and refreshments to children, young people, families, visitors, and staff. Working closely with the wider hospice team, you’ll help maintain a welcoming and safe environment for everyone who uses our services.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Preparing and serving food and refreshments for patients, staff and visitors
* Maintaining hygiene standards and cleaning equipment, utensils, and catering areas
* Following food safety, infection control and health & safety procedures
* Providing excellent customer service to all service users
* Supporting internal events, including orders and deliveries
* Working flexibly across areas covered by the Catering Team, including weekend rotas

About You
You’ll have a helpful attitude and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where your work really makes a difference.
We’re looking for someone who is:
* Experienced in a catering environment (essential)
* Confident using kitchen and catering equipment
* Holding at least a Level 2 food hygiene qualification
* A great team player, positive and flexible
* Able to work to time schedules and under pressure
* Willing to work a 7-day rota and cover shifts when needed
* Good at verbal communication and maintaining professional standards
* Comfortable with basic IT tasks (training available)

Salary: £19,100 pro rata (£23,875 FTE)
Hours: 30 hours, 4 days a week including 1 weekend in 3
Shifts are between 7am until 7pm, working 7.5 hours per day
Eg shift from 7am – 3pm or 11am – 7pm (30 minutes break)
