Role Overview
The role provides support to the Registered Nurse (RN) by caring for patients and enhancing the quality of hands-on care. The post holder will deliver high-level support in providing quality interventions to meet patients' nursing and clinical needs as an RN assistant.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide clinical support to implement planned care to patients under the indirect supervision of Registered Nurses.
2. Work within a designated team and independently as required.
3. Demonstrate awareness of personal professional practice limits and seek appropriate support or advice.
4. Carry out nursing care activities such as clinical observations, wound care, and point of care testing.
5. Undertake clinical tasks including cannulation, venepuncture, ECG, and wound care.
6. Supervise Band 2 & Band 3 Healthcare Support Workers, delegating care appropriately.
7. Participate in case conferences and review meetings.
8. Maintain clear, accurate, and contemporaneous patient records of care provided and its impact.

Based at the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport, with openings on the Elective Trauma & Orthopaedics Ward, C7W. The role includes a robust support network, a competency framework, and opportunities to develop new skills.
