Lead commercial performance across complex rail contracts
The role
As Commercial Manager, you’ll take ownership of the commercial performance of multiple projects, ensuring contracts are managed effectively and financial outcomes are protected. You’ll lead and develop a team of commercial professionals, provide expert advice to project teams, and act as a trusted partner to clients and senior stakeholders.
Day‑to‑day responsibilities
* Lead the commercial management of a portfolio of rail works, ensuring profitability and compliance
* Manage cost control, revenue, forecasting, and cash collection processes
* Oversee contracts, change control, and claim to protect the company’s commercial position
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
* Lead, coach, and develop commercial team members to drive high performance.
This is a full‑time, permanent role, working 35 hours per week, with a hybrid pattern of three days on site at Cadder Yard, Scotland, and two days working from home.
Essential experience
* Strong commercial leadership experience within construction, rail, or infrastructure environments
* Proven ability to manage complex contracts and commercial risk
* Confident communicator and negotiator, able to influence at all levels
* Commercially astute with a proactive, solutions‑focused mindset.
Qualifications
* Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification
* Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or working towards (desirable.)
