Compliance & Internal Controls Lead
Location: Liverpool, Merseyside, UK
At Ithaca Energy, a leading independent operator in the UK North Sea, we are seeking a Compliance & Internal Controls Lead to support our growth and organisational development.
Reporting to the General Counsel & Company Secretary, the successful candidate will take ownership of corporate compliance frameworks and their ongoing development across areas including governance, code of conduct and ethics, whistleblowing, gifts and hospitality, KYC, counterparty due diligence and related internal controls.
The role will work closely with senior stakeholders to embed a culture in which governance and controls are viewed as an enabler rather than a barrier, and will help drive the adoption of a strong, proportionate and business‑aligned compliance and internal controls framework.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who brings strong experience in corporate compliance/internal controls in a regulated environment, has credibility, judgement and pragmatism, and enjoys combining framework design with practical implementation.
Key responsibilities include:
* Developing and enhancing the corporate compliance framework.
* Establishing and maintaining controls for governance, ethics, whistleblowing, gifts, hospitality, KYC, and counterparty due diligence.
* Engaging with senior stakeholders to promote a governance‑friendly culture.
* Monitoring compliance performance and ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements.
* Providing guidance and training to business units on compliance and internal control matters.
Qualifications:
* Proven experience in corporate compliance and internal controls, preferably in a regulated sector.
* Strong understanding of governance structures, ethics, whistleblowing processes, and risk‑management frameworks.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence senior decision‑makers.
* Hands‑on approach and pragmatic judgement, with the ability to design and implement effective compliance solutions.
We are seeking candidates who are motivated by the opportunity to shape and mature a critical function of the business and who wish to make a tangible impact on how the business operates.
Applicants are invited to contact Nia Lynch‑Cryle, Partner – Energy & Natural Resources, for confidential inquiries.
