Forensic science supports the investigation of crime by providing evidence to support or refute allegations and potential involvement in offences. The Forensics Department is committed to providing quality, objective, timely and effective forensic services to inform investigations, identify offenders, safeguard victims and witnesses, and streamline justice through early case management.


Key Responsibilities

* Coordinate forensic work requests and provide advice and support to police officers on forensic services, particularly drugs services.
* Maximise the use of available evidence in serious acquisitive crime by compiling and delivering forensic intelligence.
* Coordinate the movement of exhibits within the Force and to external forensic providers, providing exhibit logistics services and ensuring continuity.
* Process biometric samples in accordance with government legislation and Biometrics Commissioner regulation.
* Maintain accurate records and update force systems.


Qualifications & Skills

* Basic awareness of forensic science and its application to police investigations.
* Recent administrative experience with proactive management of processes, cost estimation, database and spreadsheet entry, and invoice reconciliation.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of handling issues objectively and assertively.
* Experience working to multiple deadlines, delivering results through effective planning and organisation.
* Ability to manage sensitive, distressing and confidential material professionally and objectively.

Residency Eligibility
