About the role To be responsible for the learning and achievement of pupils in instrumental lessons, ensuring equality of opportunity for all and being accountable for achieving the highest possible standards in work and conduct Set high expectations so that all students are inspired, motivated and challenged to reach their full potential, and in doing so meet their progress and attainment targets Plan and teach well-structured, lessons that are aligned to the agreed curriculum and cultivate every student’s intellectual curiosity Plan, resource, arrange music for and deliver interactive and inspiring instrumental lessons for individual students and small ensembles Provide stimulating extracurricular opportunities for students and the wider school community, such as leading and support music rehearsals and performances Use data to inform teaching and learning, identify areas for intervention and provide feedback to students, staff and families in order to promote progress and outcomes Manage behaviour effectively to create a safe, respectful and nurturing environment so that students can focus on learning Work collaboratively with both school and network colleagues as a committed team member, building successful, high performing teams Participate actively throughout the network, by attending relevant meetings, and, as appropriate, delivering network-wide training and initiatives Work with colleagues, students and families to develop a strong school community Casual contract, with hours being worked during term-time only Salary & Benefits £37.60 total per hour (£33.55 per hour, plus holiday pay £4.05) Access to Local Government Pension Scheme Regional networks of Trust colleagues and access to key leaders in Education Commitment to employee Health and Wellbeing including dedicated Employee Assistance Programme Awards and Recognition Scheme Flexible working patterns Benefits Platform holiday discounts cinema tickets restaurant booking discounts Cycle to Work Scheme Who we are looking for Qualified to Grade 8 (or equivalent) in at least one musical instrument Ability to play your instrument to a high level is essential; experience with other instruments in the family is highly desirable Demonstrable commitment to raising attainment of all pupils regardless of needs Excellent understanding of both subject and general teaching pedagogy Up to date knowledge of styles of music relevant to instruments Able to create and adapt musical arrangements in a variety of styles and genres Experience of leading rehearsals and performances Effective and systematic behaviour management.
