Then you may be the right person to take on the role of Learning Manager (Parental Leave Cover) to manage the planning and delivery of the Paul Mellon Centre’s (PMC’s) dynamic Learning Programme.
Who We Are
PMC is an educational charity that champions new ways of understanding British art history and culture. We publish, teach and carry out research, both at the Centre in London and through our online platforms. Our archives, library and lively events programme are open to researchers, students and the public. PMC’s Grants & Fellowships programme supports institutions and individuals with research projects, publications, exhibitions and events. Through all areas of our work, we promote activities that enhance and expand knowledge about British art and architecture. PMC was founded in 1970 by the art collector and philanthropist Paul Mellon. It is part of Yale University and a partner to the Yale Center for British Art.
About the Role
PMC’s Learning Programme is designed to make British art and cultural history accessible to the broadest range of young people across the UK. The Learning Manager reports to PMC’s Head of Research Support and Pathways, with whom they will work closely on the management, planning and delivery of this programme of activities. They will be supported by, and line manage the Learning Coordinator, and work with an Administrator and Assistant Administrator within the Research Support and Pathways team to deliver the Learning Programme.
The Learning Manager is responsible for:
* the Yale in London Study Abroad teaching programme for undergraduate Yale students, including a new ten-day intensive programme in the spring, and two summer sessions (each session is six weeks, spanning ten weeks combined)
* the Write on Art programme for secondary school students run in partnership with Art UK
* the Art Teachers Connect programme for secondary school art teachers run in partnership with the University of Leeds
* the British Art in Motion filmmaking programme for undergraduate students from across the UK
* a series of workshops for undergraduate students delivered across the UK
* bringing knowledge, experience and ideas to the development of learning and engagement at PMC
* contributing to the creation and development of a diverse and inclusive culture of learning across the organisation
Who We Need
We are seeking:
* a motivated and efficient project manager able to work on multiple programmes simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
* an ambitious leader who can lead teams (internal and external) in preparing and launching new projects and programmes
* someone with a proven commitment to fostering anti-racist and anti-ableist ways of working and thinking
* a team player who develops excellent working relationships with colleagues and external collaborators
* a confident budget manager
* someone with a postgraduate degree or equivalent experience in the education, learning and/or arts and culture sectors
* a thoughtful individual with a range of experience in higher education and/or museum learning
Further Information
Salary will be £47,500.
This is a fixed-term contract for a minimum period of 12 months. It is a full-time post and the hours of work are 35 per week.
The position is based in Central London and we are happy to discuss flexible working.
