We are excited to offer a new opportunity for an experienced B5/B6 SLT wanting to progress in their career. If you are newly qualified and this is a clinical area you would love to specialise in, then this post may be perfect role for you. You will join our Community CAMHS SLTs as part of the CAMHS North Community Multidisciplinary Team carrying out specialist speech and language therapy assessments and intervention where appropriate to children and young people who are referred to the CAMHS North Team.

You will be well supported by Specialist and Highly Specialist SLT colleagues and the wider MDT, with many opportunities for peer support and multi-disciplinary working.

You will enjoy close links with our CAMHS Speech and Language Therapists and our SLT colleagues across the Trust and within the East Midlands, and benefit from excellent levels of support, supervision, IT and CPD opportunities.

The role is based across Newark and Bassetlaw. The Speech and Language Therapists use a assertive outreach model with our CYP, seeing them at home, education setting, and/or the clinic with opportunities for some remote and flexible working.


Main duties of the job

You will be contributing to a multi-disciplinary service supporting children and young people accessing CAMHS. This will include:

* Carrying out individual Speech and Language Therapy assessments and produce reports and recommendations for implementing communication reasonable adjustment
* Providing specific speech and language therapy interventions to individuals where appropriate
* Liaison and advice with families, carers, education and health care colleagues in how to support CYP with SLCN with/without neurodevelopmental differences in order to facilitate reasonable adjustments and increased access to services.

SLTs in CAMHS are a core part of the multi-disciplinary team, supporting the understanding of the patients communication needs

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

* To independently provide a specialist Speech and Language Therapy assessment, intervention and advice service to children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs and / or Autism Spectrum Disorder accessing Community CAMHS.
* To develop and provide specialist packages of care to CYP within CAMHS Community
* To work as an integral part of a Community CAMHS multi-disciplinary teams, providing training, support and coaching to enhance understanding of CYP accessing CAMHS with specialist needs in relation to communication.
* Contributing to and developing guidance and resources for SLT's & other clinicians within CAMHS to enhance communication and understanding of CYP within the service, particularly those with neurodevelopmental issues.
* To work collaboratively with leads to further embed SLT processes within CAMHS and to work with them on appropriate service developments as requested.
* Help to maintain and develop a high quality, motivated and effective SLT CAMHS team.
* To be responsible for supporting junior colleagues, student SLTs and assistant speech and language therapists within the Community CAMHS Teams.

Please note that this post does not meet the pay level required for a Skilled worker visa. Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. This salary is below the minimum salary required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. In these circumstances the Trust would not, therefore, be able to sponsor for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

Contractual requirements

* Ability to travel between sites, patients home and educational settings


Physical requirement

* Excellent speech and hearing
* Physcial skills in line with MVA
* Recognised SLT Degree/diploma/Masters (pre reg)
* NQT competencies completed or working towards (if band 5)
* RCLST Registered
* HPCP Registered


Training

* Portfolio of relevant post qualification CPD
* Post basic dysphagia training or completed competencies


Experience

* Working experience or relevant student placements (eg CAMHS, Secure, AMH, Autism, SEMH)
* Experience of assessing and managing caseloads within clinical area
* Experience of delivering a variety of approaches to SLT service delivery
* Experience in developing evaluation / audit tools and resources as part of SLT team
* Experience of delivering Learning and development opportunities for others
* Experience of supporting students and other staff
* Experience of enabling different staff groups to understand issues around communication and/or dysphagia
* Experience of effective multi-disciplinary/agency working
* Experience of voluntary, paid work or cares role with children/adults with, autism, learning disability or mental health needs


Knowledge

* Knowledge of SLT delivery including the use of different approaches and multi-disciplinary working, across different contexts and environments.
* Knowledge of national policies and procedures (relevant to the client group)
* Knowledge of different assessments and interventions to working with Developmental Language Disorder / Autism / Learning Disabilities (IDD). Or undergraduate knowledge of different approaches to working with individuals with neurodevelopmental conditions, speech language and communication needs.
* Knowledge of different assessments and interventions to working with SEMH and Autism
